Kwikster

One of these days I'm going to have to break down and get a digital camera. Cellphone pics won't cut it on here :P

Also you will need an account with phtobucket or shutterfly or any other hosting site as you can't upload directly to here.

I was in the same boat as you about five years ago.  I inherited some trains from my Grandfather and there were poorly stored in a leaky shed by my parents for over twenty five years.  I have about 300 feet of PW tubular track in which I have cleaned about half of.  I thought it over and repaired and refurbished everything over the last few years and it was definitely worth it.  I have a 2-6-4 steamer and SF War Bonnett F-3's which are my favorite to this day.  They were in bad shape with calcium deposits and rust throught out.  The rolling stock was in the same condition to include the milk car, my heart was broken.  I have fixed and refurbished all of the rolling stock and accessories and I am glad I did and you will be too.  Repair the ZW transformer it's not hard I'm an idiot and I did it so can you. Clean up as much as you can and then get it going and then add new stuff that's what I did.Big Smile You'll feel like a kid again then again I never did grow up.

Can't stop working on the railroad!

I've looked on there a couple time, just hard to tell w/o pics. I have a local dealer http://www.traindoctor.com aka Brasseur Electric Trains located about 30 mins from me, they have the same parts and I can take my parts with me, also can see pics of the parts. As it was in storage (read cardboard box) for more than 20 years the transformer should be tested to be safe I would think. Many of the missing parts on the loco I see are from the early type not sure if they will work.

Ya, I've been checking it out, would need at least o-31 curves. I'm a huge fan of larger steam such as the challenger and big-boy types. Eventually plan to go that route so will likely base out with larger curves. My current loco's with run on either. Hardest part is finding a reasonably priced 1225, I could always buy a PE loco and replace tender.

Welcome  Back into the hobbie.

 Nice find.

You can get the LW speed lever in many places but you can start on E-bay. .

Same with the 2026 parts. Try Jeff  At Train Tender

Welcome aboard!

If you want to buy a Lionel PM 1225 Berk, make sure you have wide radius track.

Getting back to the hobby

Years ago, I used to have several nice pieces of post war stuff and forgot about them. Well, until I found the box. Inside were a:

2026 2-6-4 w/6066t tender

6032 gondola

6035 single dome tanker

3562-75 barrel car (orange minus barrels)

6037 caboose (tuscan)

6119 caboose (gray)

Later pieces include a Mo-Pac 8562 GP-20 and a plastic 8300 2-4-0 switcher.

A combination of older O and O-27 trackage, rusted and an older LW transformer missing the speed control lever. Most pieces are in relatively good shape considering they survived me as a kid Embarrassed. In process of repairing the 2026, missing crosshead rods and e unit doesn't feel right (no detent felt). Looking to decide on a type of track and whether to repair or replace the old transformer. Probably going to start small 4-8 and cheap atm, until I get an idea of what I want to model. Likely Pere-Marquette suitable for a 1225 Berkshire as the original is located just 15 minutes from my house.
