Adding Marker Lights to Lionel 0-8-0

Locomotives did not have marker lights....except in the rare occasion where they were on the rear pushing and the caboose not so marked.

Locomotives had classification lights (or flags), and never red. None is regular schedule, white is extra, green indicates following sections.

If you are using Tomar 807 or 809, they are caboose or obs MARKER lights, one green-red-red, the other yellow-yellow-red, neither of which is correct for classification lights as they have red lenses.

TOMAR even specifies those two part numbers as markers for caboose and obs, BUT: if you blank out (black paint?) the red, one set works for green front and side, the other yellow could be dirty white, front and side.

And, either headlamp or power from rollers.

Howdy all:

I'm relatively new to O-gauge trains but a fairly competent mechanic.  I'm converting my New York Central Lionel 0-8-0 into a Central Vermont Railways 0-8-0, and I've decided to add marker lights to the locomotive.  I've purchased a Tomar Adlake Marker light kit and their constant intensity light source kit.  The wiring seems pretty straight forward to me, but I have one question.  Where can I take power from?  Can I simply take power from the red and blue wires that run to the locomotive's headlamp?
