handyandy Sorry I'm late on this. Between church and a toy train show yesterday not much time for the internet. Here's a quick shot of my 39" x 80" O-27 post-war Marx/Lionel layout. Outer loop has no switches to allow me to run older trains. The double reduction Marx lokeys have no problem on the Lionel and L-Line switches. it's not real big, but it's fun....

The scenes you create show what's possible with a three rail postwar based tubular layout.

Gregg, They are a father, retired professor, and son, orthodontist, that are really big into the AF collecting/operating/restoration. However the elder has turned to the "Dark Side" the past year or so and embraced the modern stuff w/all the bells/whistles & TMCC.
Remember the Veterans. Past, present and future.

Its always good to see some tinplate running on a layout. It looks like your club member has some nice Flyer in his roster. He has some great examples from late in the prewar era. His 3/16 O passenger set is pretty impressive. I'd love to bring some of my equipment to run on your club layout.
I've been gone all weekend so let me at least add another streamliner to the mix, even if it is a little late.

By the way, how did you come up with a name for your layout,
Kevin, I lived for 40 years in the State of Washington. Lived in numerous cities including Seattle and Yakima, hence the Seattle & Yakima Railroad.
It's actually a heat gun made by Leister which is designed to fuse polyethylene rod. It literally causes the foam to melt and bubble creating rock like formations.

When you say industrial strength, are we talking about a shrink wrap heat gun? Either way that is a cool effect you have there. Looks like the real thing. I'll have to keep that in mind when i'm at that point. Looking good!!

Been working on scenery this past week ... had some dark gray computer packing foam that I decided to melt into rock formations with an industrial strength heat gun (like a hair dryer on steroids) ... apply some paint and dead root residue and and these are the results
