Thanks for checking out the pieces, Nick.
I've had little luck determining various varieties for any given model numbers. And I've had no luck finding a Greenberg Guide from collectors I know or local bookstores.
I've also realized guys like yourselves might appreciate these pieces a whole lot more than I do. I do know the original owner was born in 1936 and took very good care of his toys. (Sorry he's not still around.)
Thank you all for your comments. I'm learning a lot.
All best, Bud
Wow, beautiful stuff!
Do keep in mind that any figure you get from a price guide will be inflated. They record actual sales, and unless you sell it yourself, you will never get that much, since whoever sells it for you will take a cut. Also, the market for these things is getting softer all the time, so unless the guide is very recent, the prices will be inaccurate. That said, you have some really pristine things with original boxes, and can expect a good price if you do sell.

Kev,
Thanks for the link to Tandem-associates; I was not aware of their site. Lots of excellent info. It let me date several of my engines more precisely than I could up to now.

These are photos on the Picassa site. Lets see if this works. The #97 Coal elevator and other pieces should be posted here:

Any insights would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Jon. This is all beginning to make sense. Several of the pieces are Prewar, like the 244E locomotive, the 2224W Bakelite tender, 2652 gondola car, 2654 Shell Oil tank, and 2657 red caboose. I even found the "Outfit No. 141W" box those items came in. As for the #97 Coal elevator, the ladder is red, the roof is red, the building is yellow, but I'm not sure whether the superstructure is silver or grey. I'll try and post a link to the photo:

Apologies if that link doesn't work. Thanks again, Bud
That #97 Coal Elevator also was a Pre-War item. Is the paint silver or grey? Extra points for grey, as it was a 1942-only item.
Jon
If you need maintenance information, Olsen's Library is a good place to look. Most of those items will have repair manuals available.
No problem,
I forgot to say the sites i sent you are only for post-war 1945-1969 stuff
Kev
Much appreciated, SantaFe.
Many thanks, Kev!

Stuff with boxes tends to run at the higher end of the pricing, especially if item and box are in good condition.
New here and would appreciate information about Lionel O-gauge pieces I've inherited, like dates and general values. All seem to be beautiful and in working condition (TrainMaster 75 w Type Q transformer w/original box). Some of the parts are:
#244E Locomotive w/original box
#2224 Tender with whistle & elec. coupler w/original box
#3469 Dumping Ore car (auto dump) w/original box
#3656 Operating Cattle car with loading chute, nine rubber cows w/original boxes
#97 Coal elevator, one bag Lionel coal (#207) w/original box
And a set of four Lionel Art prints of 19th Century Locomotives.
Many thanks for any info. All best, Bud
