Question on Converting Marx to Roller Pick-Up
Posted by Papa_D on Friday, February 3, 2012 3:05 PM

I've just acquired a Marx Marlines steam engine. The shoe pick-up gets hung-up on my O-27 turn-outs.  Does anyone have any advice on converting the shoe pick-up ot a roller pick-up?  What roller pick-up would be the best one to try? Thanks.

Is it the shoe pickup and not the fat drive gear? The pickup should be bent upwards on each end unless it's been damaged.

Thanks. Ran it over the turn-out several times by hand. You're right, it is the big gear on the inside of the drive wheels. Guess I'll need a simple oval to run this engine.

You may be able to modify your switches similar to what this member did with his crossings to accomodate your Marx locos, otherwise you could pick up some Marx switches.

Which turnouts are you using?
