I am not familar with any problems with the E-unit lever on this loco, can you provide the details?

I believe there may have been an issue with the fuel tank interfering with the e-unit's pawl. There is a notch cut out of the tank on many, if not all of those engines. (I've owned a number of them over the years)

The 2 pin bulb goes right next to the e-unit. There is an opening in the roof. The top of the bulb sticks through. The bulb should be a #19R - red, two pin base, 12 volt.

Another question....I see from research that Lionel had some problems with the E unit lever on the 44 and corrected it......I didn't see anything on the 45 and I am having some trouble getting it to the slot when the body goes back on.....

 

Also...unless I am missing something I don't see where the two prong bulb goes....:)

I agree and was not questioning him.....I believe he is correct.

I just measured for my own info and was wondering if those were the correct opening sizes.

I too have found ebay to be full of wonder.....:)

Question again on the 2530...I looked at your pictures and determned mine was the large door car ....however, when I was on Ebay last night I believe they may have had some mis ID'd.....

Ebay cannot be used as an authoriative source on Lionel or anything else. There are too many listing are with errors and/or misinformation.
Which is not to say that Bob was mistaken on the baggage cars. He only used Ebay to grab a picture or two, not to identify the car.

What you were saying (and I believe you are correct) were being called small doors.....before I said anything I measured mine and the door opening looks like 1 3/4 inches....that looks right to me.

No and no.  I grabbed pictures from the postwar site (large door) and an Ebay auction (small door).  I can't run 2500-series cars on my O27 layout, except for a 9100 AMTK baggage car (same size as the 2530), which gets through the turnouts because I cut the skirts off it.  I don't mind doing that to a car whose prototypes lack the skirts anyway; but I wouldn't do it to a large-door 2530.

The top of the door handle is at about the same height as the bottom of the windows on the small door, but substantially below the windows on the large door.

Another question.....recently purchased some goodies and included was the 2530-31-32-33-34 aluminum cars .....

THe 2530 RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY CAR....research says two different door sizes with the large doors being more rare....how you know what is large and what is the normal size?

I don't know the rules here either for asking for parts, but can offer I purchase my needs from Mizzel trains in colorado.  Ask for chuck, a great resource.......

THANKS ....got it off and cleaned and lubed it...but still having a little trouble getting the e unit lever to come out the slot when putting the body back on.....will work on that.

 

Question...are we allowed to ask if anyone has parts on this forum?

You may wish to remove the control panel operator by lifting him straight off his tab.
You may need to move the manual firing lever a bit to align it with the slot in the cab.
Lift the back of the body, and slide it forward.
It is held on by two sheet metal tabs (frame) that slide into slots in the cab.
Look carefully just above the front bumper, and you should see them.

BE CAREFULL! It is very common to see those locos with the front bumper broken off. Try to lift the cab as little as possible before sliding it forward.

A shell that is held on by one screw at one end is probably meant to slide lengthwise by a short distance to disengage from hooks at the other end.

How do I get the body off of the above....the instruction sheet says to removed the one screw at one of the ends and the cab will 'EASILY' come off.......not so...

 

Ideas?
