Using a seperate transformer to power 022 switches

I am using a pair of Z-750s to run trains on the layout. They do not have a separate terminals for accessories.  What transformers are recommended to provide 16v power to the 022s? How many amps are needed to power 16 to 20 switches? I'm not really looking to replace the 750's but to have a transformer to dedicate to 16v (an additional terminal to use for lighting would be pretty nice as well).

I would suggest using a transformer with an accessory output terminals to power the 022 switches. If they are post-war 022's, you can use up to 18 volts to power the switches. In all likeliness, you will throw one or maybe two switches at any given time, so you need to worry about how many lights are being powered rather than how many solenoids will need power at the same time, so the power consumption should be low.

I typically recommend at least 16 volts for 022's, and the 18 mentioned is fine.  On lower voltages, some of them tend to be sluggish no matter what you do.  I try to get them working on 12V, that way I know with 16-18V they'll have a margin of safety.

I use the 20 v fixed tap on my KWs to power the 022 switches.  I have checked the switches after many many operations, and don't find any evidence of erosion of the contacts inside the switch.
