How about this one? Sure it's not quite as exciting, but it's probably the most we'll get in the U.S. :D
An 1873 Mason Bogie (0-6-4T) vs a 1932 4-4-0

The Engineer in the Mason finally gave up and let the 4-4-0 "Edison" win (the Mason "Torch Lake" won three years ago, that video was filmed two years ago, and the 4-4-0 was having it's dry pipe replaced last year so they didn't run the race)
That was awesome! Now all we need to do is find about 10 miles of triple track mainline and three steam locomotives... I would even shovel the coal!
Cool!
Wasn't the #3642 locomotive featured on one of the Top Gear episodes? Seems like they were running a race between the steam train, a Jag XK120, and a motorcycle from London to Glasgow or something like that.
Would have liked to have been riding in one of those steamers, thanks for sharing.

Very cool video!!

This is quite a video that really gets going at the four minute mark ..neck and neck as seen from the cabs.No "realistic "speeds here per the prototype but hey, it is the prototype racing...How irresponsible of them. What a great idea! I thought some other steam heads might enjoy this as a change of pace from repair issues. Will never see this stateside on CSX, etc. Now I have an excuse er..(prototype) practice for The Great Marx Race. I really enjoyed how they blow past station platforms..shovel that coal..they are gaining on us!
