Hi, I know absolutely NOTHING about toy trains.  I was at a garage sale this weekend and for some reason these trains caught my eye.  They are all the same, brand new in the box.  I have searched all over the web and the only info I could find was on the T.T.O.S. SW division website, stating that it was the first train made for that particular division.  Other then that, I have not found them on Ebay or anything.  I have one posted right now at $50 but I would like to be sure I am selling it in the correct price range.

Any information would be great.

Thanks so much!

Hi Missy,  unfortunately the K-Line TTOS boxcar you have does not get many bids, I doubt that you will get any takers at $50. I have seen those guys sell in the $10 to $15 range. There are so many club cars released each year that unless the olders ones are very unique and closer to scale there just isn't much desire for them.

I'd have to agree.  These cars are not worth quite what the shipping would be.  To compound the issue, these are the short O-27 cars making them non-candidates for repainting for most, and they have the early all plastic K-Line trucks which are very temperamental.

The trucks look like Lionel's Symington-Wayne versions, but are inferior knock-offs.

I've gotten some of these in lots of stuff, and I sell them off on eBay.  I normally get $10-12 for them, and frequently I have to list them several times to get a bid.

I'll be amazed if you get any action at anything about that price.

MissyAmerica:   "Been There, Done That"     A few years ago, I attended a show.  Some items caught my eye and, after "negotiating" with the vendor, managed to get them for half of his original asking price. "What a deal!', I thought..........Turned out to be worth less than half of what I paid for them.  To this day, I remember that transaction.  A lesson well learned.

As far as your auction.  Don't give up on sites like E-Bay.  Calculate your break-even price. (Your cost + the buyers postage + @ 10% fees)  Then, embellish your description of the item by using words like "beautiful", "for the collector" and "a nice addition to your layout" ....Stress the actual words from the box........BUT be careful and truthful........Avoid things like "one of a kind" and "rare"......

You may have to list it several times.....It costs nothing to list.......Try one day listings instead of five or seven day listings..........

Welcome aboard the Forum, Glad you asked, Good luck.
