Thanks guys, I'll check that out. I bought wire, I'll try it myself once and see what I can do. I'll check the bearings too. Much appreciated, Jerry

A motor repair/rewind service is provided by themotordoctor. Before sending the armature out, make sure the brushplate and lower armature bearings are not worn, as servoguy states.

If you cannot find a replacement armature, there are several outfits that can rewind yours. I don't have any contact information handy, but I am certain someone can post it.

When the little plate was tightened down on the shaft of the armature, it would rub I guess as it seemed bound up some. Someone put a spacer under that plate, allowing the windings to come in contact with the housing of the motor/armature and it burnt the wires of the armature. I order some 26 AWG Magnet wire as I saw an earlier post where Bob Nelson suggested that they be rewound with that wire. I'll give it a go. Does anyone know the number of the part for the 263E Blue Comet armature? Thanks much, Jerry

I am not sure how the armature could short out against the housing.  How is it doing this?

Sometimes the bearings for the armature are worn so much that the armature can contact the field.  Is this what is happening?

The Blue Comet I received is very nice, 5 pieces, but the armature is shorting out against the housing. Is it a difficult rewiring?  It's a 263E, does anyone know the model number of the armature I would buy to replace the one I have it a rewire doesn't work? Thanks much, Jerry
