I think CTT should come out with an exhaustive, comprehensive and authoritative guide to building Christmas/Winter themed toy train layouts. After reading articles on these layouts in both CTT and OGR as well as viewing the Christmas Train videos produced by TM, I believe that a Christmas/Wintertime theme would be an attractive alternative to the “endless summer day” that most of us (myself included) model.
This book should include chapters on modeling snow , choosing porcelain buildings and winter night lighting effects. Track plans for this type of layout should be included as well. Theses track plans are usually heavy on the loop running and light on track switches.
I believe a book like this would be a good starting point to build a Christmas layout. I would certainly get one. What do the rest of you think?
