Question on Lionel Legacy Engines
Posted by KEVINK22 on Friday, December 16, 2011 11:24 AM

Hey All,

This might be a dumb question; but i am trying to get an understanding for what the Lionel Legacy Engines. I was wondering if the Legacy engines have to be run with the Legacy remote, or is it able to be run conventionally as well. And i know you are all probably saying what would i want a Legacy engine to be run conventionally for when it has so much more to offer with the remote control. I agree with that; but am just trying to get an overall sense of which is best for me. Legacy or Conventional Control. Any thoughts or helpful suggestions would be great.

Merry Christmas

Engines run quite well in conventional mode.  You will not have full access to all of the features available without the Legacy command set (base/CAB-2).   I don't have any Legacy engines but I have the command set because it works even the older equipment better than the original CAB-1 and Command Base.

You can also run them with the older TMCC system.
