Chances are the reversing unit is locked.  Look at the back of the loco and you'll see a small silver wing like tab, in the up position the unit is locked, pull it down to unlock the unit.

hello all, i just bought a casey jones train set to set up for christmas and found that the loco runs very nice, but only in reverse. i had an o guage train set that had a reversing unit and i tried the same technique and it did not work. i also tried a dc transfomer and got the same result. the set is probaly from the sixties. any help would be much appreciated. thanks, joe
