Menards rolling stock
Posted by Seayakbill on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 11:13 AM

I have been accumulating Menards Hardware rolling stock for the last 5 years. Picked up 3 more flats with loads over the past couple weeks. The C&NW flatcar with load is from Lionel the other 2 Menards flatcars with loads are from whoever Menards is using to manufacture their rolling stock besides Lionel. These 3 make a total of 9 that I have accumulated, there are numerous others that I have yet to get.

I've seen the additional cars locally, I was not aware that they were not manufactured by Lionel.  There is also one that you seem to be mising, or perhaps simply decided not to collect.  In addition to the two cars with the stone block loads, our Menards is also carrying a flatcar with a Menard's sign as the load.  According to the box, the sign is illuminated.

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

stebbycentral,

You are correct I looked at that car with the sign yesterday at Menards. I was tempted but had to focus on supplies for the light project above the layout. I did get some trees, fence sections, and dock fence end.

The rolling stock that I have accumulated 5 were manufactured by Lionel and 4 by some other manufacture. From what I have seen Lionel manufactured the separate sale rolling the first 2 years for Menards, the last 3 years Menards has had another company manufacture the separate sale rolling stock.

The past 3 years Lionel has manufactured an exclusive Menards starter set that has at least one Menards piece of rolling stock in the set. The 3 sets were C&NW set, Soo Line set, and this year a Milwaukee set.

For this year Menards had 5 pieces of separate sale rolling stock manufactured. 2 flats with Menards pallet loads, flat with Menards lighted sign, flat with lighted Menards trailer, and a flat with the Menards NASCAR race car.

Seems like someone in Menards purchasing is in to O Gauge trains.

I was in Menards earlier this week to pick-up some outdoor Christmas lights and ran into this guy. A Menards flatcar with the lighted sign heading to a store in Topeka, Kansas. It decided to follow me home to the layout, I have a C&NW freight heading to Topeka.

The two flats with pallet loads were $29 each

The flat with the LED lighted sign was $39

The C&NW flat was part of the Lionel Menards set, picked it up on E-Bay for $24.
