Lubrication help 1992 Dash 8-40C
Posted by KRM on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 1:32 PM

I have a Lionel 1992 Dash 8-40C. # 6-18207

Is there a simple way to lube the bottom bushing and worm gear on the pulmor motor in this engine? Short of having to un-solder the coil wire from the top plate brush holder so you can pull the armature out to access the lower end of the motor? The brush plate wants to melt before the solder does.

Thanks,

Kev.

For many of those motors, I can remove the brush plate without unsoldering the wires.  Remove the brushes first, then see if you can just wiggle the brush plate off without unsoldering the wires.

John,

You can’t on this one. The wire is so tight you can’t even pull the plate up enough to clear the alignment posts. I could just cut it and install a jumper like Larry suggested.

Tks,

Kev
