I am looking for the top plate with the brushes. Can anyone order from North Lima Trainworks? TrainLarry Kev, That connection is a very stressful ones to undo. You need to work fast, melting a little solder, unwinding the wire a bit, heat up some more, unwind wire some more, etc. until it is free. Much sweating doing those. You may find it easier to just snip the wire 1/4" from the lug, then add a short piece of wire to the field wire if needed, and solder to the 'pigtail' on the lug.

You have it close to what happened Larry,
I did not total the brush plate but it did get hot and melt some. It is still working and I think it is good but looks like crap. What a pain to lub the lower unit on these. I want to drill a hole and use my pin point greaser to do the other motor. I am just using the Iron my son and I used for his RC cars back in the late 80s and early 90s, who knows what it is heating at. Too much I would say.
Where can I order a replacement brush plate?
If the motor is the same as in the previous years' # 1-8205 Dash 8-40C, then the brushplate alone, no springs, brushes or setscrew, is part # 600-8010-139.
(If you melted the brushplate unsoldering the coil wire, you may need a higher wattage soldering gun if you are not already using one, like a 100/140 watt unit or similar. A low wattage soldering iron will not heat up enough to melt the solder on that lug, but it will melt the plastic as the solder heats up and does not melt, transferring the heat to the plastic.)
