Foot print of a typical hot furnace/hot mill  is around 1200'x400', aka the mill would be larger than your entire layout?

O72 - first off ---> Welcome.

I don't believe there are any steel mill kits available...yet.  But, I'm holding out hope, as I want to build one myself.

In the meantime, I suggest picking up a copy of Dean Freytag's book on modeling steel mills.

What mill do you have in mind?

Does anyone of a O gauge steel mill kit out there or if anyone builds them. I know walthers has a HO kit but my layout is 9x12 so it would be hard to do the " trick the eye" effect of it being far away. Jack
