Lionel Ferris Wheel motor has stopped
Posted by Jim in Lowville on Monday, November 7, 2011 10:23 AM

The motor on my Lionel Ferris Wheel has gone up.  Lionel's web site offers no replacement part.  Has anybody had this problem and how did they fix it or is their anybody out there that does repairs?  I am not that good at these things.

Thanks for any help.

Jim

Jim,

There are two things you can try - both are long shots.

1. The Ferris wheel uses a small friction drive wheel to turn the wheel. This accessory has a bad habit of getting slightly out of alignment and the friction drive wheel is not touching the Ferris wheel rim. I mention this since you were not specific on if the can motor is actually dead or not.

2. Try contacting the Lionel Service Center. For these low run units they do not have spare parts but they may be able to dig a compatible motor out for you. This is a very long shot but worth a try.

Otherwise you will have to try and rig up a solution.

Good luck!

Regards, Roy
