If you don't mind my asking, what dealer has them at $115?

Go to Train World, they have all the road names for $115

Go to E-Bay, one dealer has a number of roadnames listed at Buy It Now for $115.

I see that the RMT S-4 Alcos are at the dealers now. Neat small diesel switcher that is conventional controlled. They come in 20 different road names but didn't see a black & gold Northern Pacific, thats a bummer. Prices that I have seen from various dealers run from $115 to $170. The $170 level seems high for the little guy but I would consider $115 for a Northern Pacific.

This isn't the best picture, but here you will see the original Marx 1998 on the upper track, and a K-Line version below.

Ogaugeoverlord

Unless K-Line re-did the tooling, the model goes back to the Marx diesel of the 1950s ...

K-Line did some upgrading to the mold, but yes, these are based on what was the Marx 1998

mold.

When I get the RMT version, I have to take some side, by side, by side shots.

Here are a couple of pictures of the RMT S-4 that somebody posted on the OGR forum.  They look like pretty nice engines; way better than the K-Line ones.

First thing I thought when I saw them was, "MAN, with the money they spent on tooling, they coulda made an even more prototypical looking SW-1."

Oh well, they are cute.Sigh

Much smoother motor operation and better low speed than the K-Line product.

I have the old K-Line Western Pacific and the Procter & Gamble Alcos, they are speedsters.

CNW1995, I wouldent mind at all if that were a realityStick out tongue

On a related note, RMT also has the old K-line MP15 tooling. hopefully it gets the same treatment Bob mentioned with the S4. I have a hard time trying to get the k-line one anywhere near scale speedsStick out tongue. They already have a LIRR one announced.Thumbs Up

I always appreciate a comparison. I've looked forward to this. Too bad there's no Sodor Islands Railway livery.  Wink

I review this in the February issue (Not that  far away since I need to turn it in to the Art Dept next Thursday).

Nice engine, smooth runner and I drug out my old 1991 or 2 K-Line Alco to compare it with. Much smoother motor operation and better low speed than the K-Line product.

I'm very exited for these myself. The Long Island Railroad one fits the bill for me. RMT seems to very good with getting lesser known road names down...
