ok here it is i sent the geep to lionel and they put a new metal gear to replace the plastic gear and the said found no other problems and sent it back to me and i ran for 1 hr straight pulling heavy metal cars to put load on it and no problem so it was the gear causing all the problem with it stopping.

Even though O and HO are two different worlds the electronics are very similar. I have a loco that has very little space inside and heat builds up quickly. This was causing the DCC chip to overheat and it would cause the loco to do strange and not so wonderful things, like stall, slow down or just go dead. I solved the problem by cutting out the molded on radiator fans and installing fans with see-through grilles. This gave the heat a way to escape and the problem went away. Maybe you could do the same?

Sounds like a heat issue, did you try running it without the shell?
