Northwoods Flyer

Thanks WallyWorld.

The daveclarklumber site on YouTube is one of my favorite sites to visit.  There are regular postings of videos there and I have watched some of them multiple times.  The double headed hudsons are really impressive

Northwoods,

I agree on those videos being worthy of several viewings, which seldom is the case for me. The music seems a perfect match and sort of sets the trains in a context, that is really enjoyable.

Thanks to your suggestion, I recently picked up two Seattle series cars ( a baggage and observation ) and was struck by how hefty these AF cars appear in comparison to Marx and Lionel tinplate, especially in this video.

Far from being scientific about this, they seem very much like Marx six inch tin on steroids, riding on those impossibly high trucks, which is appealing. Thanks to your thread on Prewar AF I broadened my collecting \ operating, even going so far to mix consists while working on a standard slot and tab coupling system ( Marx ) that allows the two AF electrics to pull Marx cars. The AF locos are real pullers in comparison to the Marx with their much heavier weight. I have a string of Lionel Baby Ruth cars that I am converting to Marx slot and tab..Mixing and matching consists from all three is my latest operating goal.

After I posted this video link, I went back to look at Dave's other videos on Marx..wow...what a collection!.

All this solidified my regret in not leaving the modern era aspect of toy trains earlier..I often wonder what I could have collected instead of the more commonplace. My family and friends prefer these prewar tins..so it makes for a good fit.

Found this video whilst browsing the Marx Yahoo Group. Really enjoyed the heck out of it. Thought others might enjoy this as well. The enlarged poster sized diagrams are way cool. I wonder where they got them. The Zeppelin is awesome.
