Lionel 671 detail

I don' know the actual reason, but this is my guess, right, or wrong!
Lionel produced a 671 in 1947 and the same year they came out with the 12-wheels 'Stream-Line' Penna. RR. tender #2671W, with a back up light and whistle unit.
Though, this tender had 12-wheels and the actual tender had 16-wheels, this Lionel 12-wheel tender was closer in detail,  to the actual 16-wheel tender, than Lionel's original, first issue #671W tender, which was a "Freight" type and had only 8-wheels.
So, I think that, Lionel wanted more prototypical realism in the details and designs of their 1947 issue of the #671 Turbine engine and the long haul #2671W, 12-wheel tender, which resembled the actual engine and tender.

Just noticed that my 671 turbine shells are different. I have a 671 with the smoke bulb from 46 and a 671 from 47. I noticed that the one from 47 has more cast in detail. Anyone know why that is?
