Hi,
I'm looking at a purchase of the following:
2343 powered unit, box insert, no box.
2343 dummy unit with good box.
Cars 2530-2533, all with decent boxes
ZW transformer, boxed
Misc. track and paperwork.
The cars are in very good to excellent condition, the engines are the same except there are some missing porthole windows. The seller is asking 1250, which I think is a bit high. Any thoughts as what a fair price might be?
Thanks,
John
Well, they are more collector cars and running cars, are you a collector or an operator. If the boxes are all in good condition, that's probably not out of line.
John,
Here's some info. and notice NO boxes, so judge for yourself about the cost.

Sounds like a reasonable price, you could check E-Bay to see what similar items are selling for.

Seems a tad high but prices are funny, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. If you feel comfortable at that price then go for it.

Try this website.....liveauctioneers.com. Type lionel 2343 in the search box and follow the link to sold items. There is a wealth of information as to sellers (mostly auctioneers), date of sale, pictures and condition of items, and prices obtained. This should give you a pretty good idea of what a particular item is worth. If you want the item in question badly enough, I guess you will have to be the judge as to whether they are worth the asking price.
It, amazes me how most of these wheeler dealers have beautiful actual old and supposed old, original items for auction and sale.
How?!!!!
Most, items I see at hobby shops are slightly worn at best, or are missing something.
