Size.

600 series freight, the 651 flat car, 652 gondola, 653 hopper, 654 tank car, 655 box car, 656 cattle car, and 657 caboose were all 8-wheeled with latch coupler. Looked quite a bit like their "big brothers" the 800 series. 810 crane car, 811 flat car, 812 gondola, 813 cattle car, 814 stock car, 814R refridgerator car, 815 tank car, 816 hopper, and 817 caboose. These were also 8 wheeled with latch couplers. Put a "2" in front of these all numbers and you get the same thing but with automatic couplers.

Now you also have another 800 series freight cars. 803 hopper, 804 tank car, 805 box car, 806 stock car, and 807 caboose. These looked alot like the 600 series, size wise, but had only 4 wheels attached to the frame of the car, not on truck assemblies.

This isn't a complete list of all the cars, colors, or details, but a good example of what there is.

Hope it helps some. Let me know if I can help more.
