I've recently purchase a prewar black 400E with a chugger switch. With the exception of its red lettered number boards, it fits the description of a type D (1933-34) in the Greenburg guide. I am looking for originality clues.
1. Do original engine frames and boiler fronts have part # stamped on them?
2. Are the red lettered number boards correct for this model?
3. One tender truck on my non-whistling tender has a pick-up roller. Not sure why!?!
I look forward to comments and answers!
