Here is UP 3985 pulling 18 Rock Island passenger cars and one Rock Island box car. The Challenger is the first MTH Railking articulated engine and one of the very early QSI sound systems. The Passenger cars are K-Line from the K-line collectors club.

And here it is in action VIDEO

Thanks for posting the great photos and videos today everyone.

Wallyworld, I look forward to seeing that AF 3112 that you have restored running in a video around your layout.  Wink

Today I am posting some photos of The Wisconsin Valley Railroad.  Its an HO gauge club layout that my son and I have belonged to for a number of years.  So, while my primary interest is American Flyer trains, we have shared the fun of rebuilding the benchwork and trackwork and running trains on this HO gauge layout.

And just to remain true to my American Flyer and tinplate roots here is a shot of something that did run on The Valley Line.

That Atlantic is a gem..just beautiful. I am working on a unit train of  vintage Lionel Baby Ruth boxcars to run as a unit train. The issue is they have two coupler systems none of which fit behind the AF..which has been layout tested and runs great, aside from snagging some odds and ends with the reverse lever. Hadn't thought of that possibility..looking for some AF Milwaukee Rd coaches. Have a set in standard gauge ( baby bi-polar) with four coaches used at Xmas.. That color scheme is one of my favorites. I hope at some time you post some videos..

Bruce,

I think these are the cars that you want.  They will look nice with your 3112.

An observation with Milwaukee Road markings is very very difficult to find.
There is a version of these cars with the same colors but without the Milwaukee Road markings.
Good Luck in your hunt.

Of course I have found these cars in every imaginable color scheme except those you were kind enough to post, which goes along I suppose with the territorial imperative of the collector operator as a obsessed hunter \ gatherer. LOL.

LOL. While not vintage I found this site that shows that sole proprietors versus corporate entities are alive and well as far as carrying on the tinplate tradition.

Check out the buildings. I am saving my pennies.

Milwaukee Litho Switch Tower to be specific.

Bruce........is that Marx RI Alco dual motored?  Wast there an unpowered B unit that came with it?

Spanky.......can you fill me in on the "in person" color of those  RI K-Line passenger cars?  They look more orange than red in the video.

Northwoods and Mersenne.......I think you guys are getting to the point that it would be easier to list what pre-war AF you guys don't have.  Smile, Wink & Grin  The skill and patience to painstakingly search, find, collect,  document, and then share what you have acquired is unparalleled.  Thank you!!!!

As always, thank you guys for taking the time to take and post your pictures and videos.  I enjoy them as so many others do every Sunday.  Drool!!!!!!

Jack,

It is single motored but is a real puller. Yes there are non powered B units. I have two that I sometimes run with the A unit with K line Rock Island passenger cars..also at times I have a K Line RI non powered FA unit that I combine to make a A-B-B-A combination. The trick is that while I have fitted all with slot and tab couplers to pull the six inch tin cars but the one B unit has a knuckle coupler added to link with the K line equipment. The slot couplers also fit into a knuckle as well  but can be unreliable at speed.  They all have the same paint scheme. I could post a picture if you wish..
