Trackside Grasses -- Pictures
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, August 5, 2004 6:16 PM
I'm going to share with you what I use for my layout and modular.

The two main things used are raindeer moss, it comes in green, and well as a shade of brown, for different colors, all I do is just paint it, with acrylic paints

For stuff other then the moss, there is this stuff, As a ball or clump it looks rather intimidating, but pull it apart one by one, and you have a long, stalky plant. Just simpley glue them down one at a time, or glue a few together as many plants

Here, on a mountain, is both things used, painted moss, as well as some animals, rock, and telephone poles added

A view from the other side of the mountain, with little wildflowers, as the red 'balls' as well as some elk and deer in the trees

A close up look at the mountain

Overgrown grass on the side of a switch tower

Weeds between a cobblestone road and the tracks, I picked up the shrub, at a drugstore, after Christmas, It was suppose to be a hollybush, I picked off most of the red berrys, only left a few

Scatter them out, leave some spaces, so it doesnt look too crowded

A low shot of between the tracks vegitation

The hobo jungle was one of the first areas that I did, I am looking to go back over it and redo it with more texture and color

All I use to attach it to my layout is wood glue, no sparying ontop, its in the garage, so its subject to more winds then a basement or room layout.

Regards,
Chris.

I really like these pictures and your grass, but what is reindeer grass? Where does it grow? I have never heard of it in the Buckeye State.

Nice, Chris.

Buckeye. They sell bags of it at Michaels. I think people living in Washington State can pick it up out of rain forests. WOnder if anyone's tried Southern moss that hangs on trees.
