Rubber roadbed for tubular track
Posted by RRaddict on Friday, September 9, 2011 2:59 PM

Has anyone ever seen a road bed made specifically for Lionel tubular track?  This roadbed was made so you could fit the tracks ties into it by stretching it then when it reformed the track was securely in the roadbed.  The roadbed also had simulated ties already molded in it.

Yes, RRaddict,

I have some, they are gray molded rubber.

'O' Gauge track lies in an open area of the mold.

If, I recollect, they were sold by someone named Johnson, out in California.

I don't know if these are still made and sold?

Other forum members may be able to help.

Johnson's Rubber Roadbed.  My layout is covered with it.  I have the grey roadbed with black ties.  Now, it's only made in black.  You can find it sometimes at train shows and swap meets.  Make sure to look under tables.
