gunrunnerjohn said it nicely.  The LW, TW, and 1044 are also "backwards".  It can throw you off when reading a general "how to" blurb.

The 1033 is an oddball in that the U post is really to be connected to the center rail.  If you connect it to common, you can't use the accessory terminals.  Also, the whistle polarity will be backwards if you connect the U to the outside rails.

Refer to the schematic in the Olsen's pages here: http://pictures.olsenstoy.com/searchcd31.htm?itm=640

That very question is answered in the October issue of Classic Toy Trains on page 21.

Short answer - posts A and U give variable voltage of 5 to 16 volts.  Typically, post U goes to the outside rail and post A goes to the center rail.

Thank you!  I really appreciate it.  Is there an easy way of hooking of this up?  Is it as simple as juat a & b or C or u?  I'm just trying to hook up a train with no accessories.  Anything guidiance is much appreciated.

Would anyone be able to email, fax or send a copy of instructions for the Lionel 1033 Transformer?

Thanks!
