Trying to sell stuff at model train shows, keep both truck assemblies on the same car the same color or you won't get anything for the car,Stick out tongue. People are always trying to knock me down on prices for stuff at train shows, so I would say it is the same on the internet sites also. If you do replace parts, make sure it is the correct one(not a re-issue of a part, ie Lionel's 6414 auto loader, the cars must be original to get good money).

Lee F.:  In reply to your previous post, looking at it from the bottom up, the long wire that runs along the top of the truck, across the center pin and on to the coupler  end was replaced by someone who substituted what looks like an unopened paper clip.  The long wire is designed to hold the coupler up in a tight position.  It is a disaster.

This post: I agree with your comments about the value. What I am really trying to do is make the car "workable"  (a keeper for me).  My other aluminums, Lionel, have black trucks, so I guess it is a matter of convincing myself that either black to blend in or "it don't matter" to have silver trucks. In other words, "float your own boat".   THANKS, so much.

The Williams coupler assembly has two small wires, that are very thin, that form something like an X design, and are difficult to work with. You can always remove the truck assemblies and spray paint them black. On Williams passenger cars you have two screws at either end of the car to remove and then you either pull or slide the metal frame out, after taking the end pieces out, that has the truck assemblies attached to it by a C clip.
