Update on my 610 Erie. Matt had a 610 body in excellent condition and I bought it from him. Got it today and installed it on the frame. It needed a little cleaning, but that was no problem. WOW!!! It looks AWESOME! Thanks a ton to Matt for taking care of me. A cashier's check is on the way and should arrive by the end of the week (mailed Friday). Thanks also to the CTT forum for allowing me to post a "parts needed" thread. Big SmileYes

Well I just picked up the loco yesterday. In all honesty, it doesn't look to bad. It's certainly useable until I can find an exact duplicate. I am VERY impressed with the magnetraction power it still has.

Dep,

If I was in this situation, I'd get another 610 with a good cab then either swap the good cab over to the good chasis, or swap the cab and put the rest into storage to strip parts from as needed.  One thing that I found out is that it never hurts to have rough pieces to remove usable parts from because some parts aren't available as repros.

other option is to buy the newer one remove the number and put the number you want on it (610)

My mistake. I thought you wanted the newer cab.  In my experiience, you are not likely to find an original postwar Lionel 610 cab for seperate sale.

Oh there are a bunch of them on E-Bay. I just need to wait it out is all. Big Smile

Here is the correct cab body. Note the (simulated) metal bell and horn.

Most parts dealers do not have cabs. Those that do tend to list them on Ebay. I have seen the cab you seek listed there. Unfortunately, the parts dealer who has them has a buy-it-now price somewhere around $35 (or more). I have the loco in question. I think it is a nice piece. But that is too close to the cost of an entire engine for me.

Was it a 610 cab? The only Erie cab body I found was $39, but it is a newer cab body (8354). HEre's a pic of the one on E-Bay. I may end up with this until I can find the correct body....if ever. My loco is costing me $60. I wouldn't mind paying $39 for the correct cab body if I could find it. They aren't priceless collectors items, but I like to have it "correct". Big Smile

have you tried jeff kane or olsen's

Yes...no luck. There was a replacement Erie body with a part number of 600-3, but no luck there either.
I may end up with one of the bodies off E-Bay. Sad

Looking for an Erie NW2 body
Posted by Deputy on Monday, August 8, 2011 6:15 PM

Hi all,
I just picked up a nice condition Erie NW2 postwar switcher. Unfortunately, the body right under the window was caved in and repaired.Crying  I can get an Erie body on e-Bay, but it is a newer (#8354) version and not the 610 body. I just wondered if anyone had a mint-to-excellent Erie 610 body or knew where I could buy one?
