I'm getting close to finishing my restoration of a Lionel 254!
I just finished forming and polishing the handrails today, so next will be to paint the body dark green. None of the details on the body have been secured, so I can easily remove them for painting. Everything will get a clear lacquer coat for protection, so this thing will shine for years to come! It's a smooth runner too, so this'll be great for play and display!

Darth,
as with your HO scale model work you are doing a fine job restoring old 254! Like to see it when it´s done!
From personal experience, I'm sure getting to this stage took a lot of work, as well as an equal amount of searching for replacement items, etc. The brass work really stands out and should really set off a new coat of paint.. Should be good for another 100 year run ..and you should be proud of restoring and preserving a classic. Looks great. Looking forward to seeing a new coat of paint on the finished engine on "the ready track."
