Looks like a great start to the postwar layout the  follows the loop to loop layout designs of that era that are fun to watch. I particularly like the sound of the train on the tubular track, which adds to the toy-like charm of the whole enterprise. It will be great to see updates to the construction as this project progresses. I hope that you don't go the route of sound deadening as is par today ( as if rail noise does not exist in the prototype). A subjective call to be sure. I kept seeing Frackville on the CTT post  link sidebar without knowing what the heck it was.  Looks like a great deal of fun. If I was not in NC, I'd sign up !

Just posted a new video on YouTube of our old school Post War 0-31 layout, check it out!

Get out of the rain!  Frackville O gauge display layout open This Sunday Aug 7th  from noon-5pm. We do reserve the right to close early if there are no visitors so we suggest you come early. Come in and enjoy watching and talking trains with our 24' x 55' multi-level train display. Everyone loves trains! bring the kids, the grand kids, your parents and grandparents. They can relive the sights and sounds of the Mahanoy Valley of Schuylkill County back when the railroads  were busy steaming and coal was King. Located in the Schuylkill Mall, Famous Labels Wing.  We are on the right across from PayLess Shoes.  Donation just $0.50 per person. What else can you get for $0.50 not even a newspaper or a candy bar anymore. Roadside America cost $6, The Choo Choo Barn is $7 for adults and $4 for kids so we are quite the bargain. Friend us on Facebook at North Schuylkill High Railers, or our Website  www.anthracitemodelrr.com  Attendance has been a little slow lately so please come out and help us out.  All children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.  Located just of Route 81 at the intersection of I-81 and State Road 61, Frackville. Thanks for your time: Wally, Russ, Mike, Dave, Caleb, Bretz, Gay, and Ashley. See you there

We have something new to see this week.  We got most of the trackwork run for our Post War, Old School, Conventional Layout.  This may be the type you have now, or can remember when you were a kid in the 40's-70's.  It's made of Lionel Tubular Track 0-31.  The Switches are all style # 022.  It's going to be a treat when it's finished with a couple of conventional trains running and some old style accessories.  I just posted a video of our first run on it up on YouTube.  Check it out. : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug_y505Cots

PS:  We have some new construction going on.  New framework, track work, and scenery.  We are extending the mainlines on the Ashland side so there will be more to see for the public on that side.  And it will also give us more room for passing and parking trains.  There will also be a new colliery in the Ashland area, a new tunnel too.  It's not finished yet, but you will get to see how it's done, maybe get some ideas for your layout.  We are always available to talk all things model trains.
