6657 Rio Grande Caboose (1957 - 1958)

Hi everybody, maybe someone can clear something up for me about my 6657 caboose and any information I can get is appreciated. I've read that this caboose didn't come with ladders but only ladder slots and some even without the ladder slots. Well mine has ladders. It's not any repro or repainted body.

I also read somewhere that Madison Hardware of NY use to sell upgraded Lionel stock so it's a possibility that this 6657 was purchased from there with these upgrades.

Without the original box, how can I tell if this is a Madison Hardware piece and is it worth any more or is it more sought after being an upgraded Madison 6657?

Thanks in advance for any information about this.

Vin

Anybody could have bought ladders and added them, it's not really that difficult to do. Without a box saying so, you can't tell. Even with the ladders, it's probably not going to be worth more. If you had a box with the Madison markings on it, maybe.
