9820 military set, what is it worth?
Posted by norcalmodeler on Thursday, July 14, 2011 11:09 PM

I am new to this forum, i am an HO guy and i have a Lionel Sears allstate 9820 military set from and estate purchase.  it is far from perfect but i am sure it has some value. i was wanting to list on ebay but would like an idea of value. all the cars are there and the launcher.  no tank or army men.  box and some of the instruction sheets are there also. On the misstle car the blue roof hinge tabs are broken, the exploding car is missing the pin that holds it together, the work caboose needs a new truck.  I know this is rare, i think i saw the launcher go for $900 on ebay. just wondering what the value is.  if you e-mail me i can take some pictures and e-mail them.  cdavis4printing@charter.net

thanks for you input

best you can do is do a search on ebay of completed items that match your to get an idea what maybe yours is worth.

Sell it on eBay starting at $0.99 + actual shipping, with numerous detailed pictures, sometime between October York and April York.

The real value will be revealed.

choochoo auction lists it @ $450 w/o box.  Nothing about condition, etc.  They don't have any for sale now, though.

one last comment sorry but from what you stated above the part I have underline actually probably puts a big hurt on value as in anything condition, condition, condition is whats its all about and without pics your trying to get some one give you some fat number which they can't as was stated earlier by me look for the individual pieces on ebay and make sure the conditions is the same other wise you may be putting yourself up for a big let down. I hope you do great on this set as I hope all do well on there sales but I also know the actual reality it isn't so on most unless there like or are mint.

sorry been busy and have not listed it yet,  i was hoping to get over $1,000 for it.  i saw one of the ground missle launchers go for $900 last spring.  Thanks to everyone for the input.
