Proto Sound 2

Can a proro soundboard 2 be purchased without the kit. I have the MTH UP Los Angeles AA and the Proto soundboard 2 has gone out. I don't want a whole as I only need the soundboard.

Have you contacted MTH?  I believe that as long as it's the 3V PS2 boards, spares are available.

No I haven't someone told that they won't sale just parts to the general public. I will check with them and repost when I hear something.

You may have to trade in the bad board, but I've bought lots of parts from MTH, and I'm The General Public Big Smile

Just got word back from MTH, no dice on getting the Proto 2 board replced or fixed.  They want me to purchase the whole kit which obviously I don't need.  TMCC is looking better and better as I know Lionel has parts readily available. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Well, you could equip the thing with ERR's TMCC stuff, you can actually get parts for that. :)

I am a little new here what is ERR? I know what TMCC is and I think that's what I am going to do.  MTH seems too hard to get parts for as they don't make it easy for older trains parts. I checked Lionels website and everything I need is available.  I don't care about the cruise commander, call me crazy but I like to run my trains fast and don't care how I get there.  The one problem is that I could only find the Legacy TMCC command base which isn't cheap. Do you have a resource for the classic TMCC?

Electric Railroad, it's a company (since purchased by Lionel) that makes TMCC/RailSounds add-on equipment: http://www.electricrr.com/

The way to get the classic command base is to keep an active search on eBay.  I've bought two bases and CAB-1 sets, they each came in just over $100 for the pair (plus shipping of course).
