Well after some fun working on this PB-1 here it is with the tmcc switch in the roof neither pic is great but able to see what I'm talking about. was great Williams left a hole barely big enough for the switch, the only thing I had to do was lightly scrape the inside of the shell side of the hole as for some reason it was about a 1/32" to small. I was scared about drilling the holes as afraid it would really show the screws big time but they came with a nut and I just turned the nut all the way up and made the whole a size smaller than the screw so it threaded itself into the plastic and it came out fine.

its real hard to see here will show close up in second pic

and close-up

that was my train stuff for the weekend oh yeah did run the standard gauge a couple times around the room on shelf layout.

I am old enough to remember when GN changed to the blue and white scheme, and, at the time, I thought it was awful and now I see it and I prefer it . It is really striking and it's cool to see both schemes in the same consist.. I'm glad to see I am not the only only who puts express cars in the mix. The scheme reminds me of my favorite restoration, Doyle's NKP PA. With matching cars this one would make for one good looking train. You don't see this scheme modeled as the Midwest roads always seem to get the short end of the stick..

RT - Nice job! You're right, you can barely notice the screw.

Spankybird - Nice video as always and thanks! The AF just ahead of your NKP, whick engine and cars are they? A 293 loco or a 287? My bet a 293.

Bill T - Great job as always and thanks for helping Sunday mornings special.

Where are the Flyer guys? Northwoods..those prewar Flyers need to be seen running now that you have me hooked. I bought a 1928 3112 boxcab that's waiting for parts to be delivered. Youd make a great salesman.

Here is my weekend shot. of my cobbled together Alco Steeplecab, made from a Marx M100 drive, a rust bucket French shell and spare prewar Lionel parts.

Bill

I can relate to drilling on a wing and a prayer on a perfectly good shell. It's like throwing a hail mary pass. Yours looks seamless. Coversions are always great to look at. I am sure if someone were not into trains, they would never see the difference. Thats my criteria, LOL.

wallyworld,

We Flyer Folks are never far away.  We are just lurking in the shadows waiting to answer the call.  Just flash a winged engine on the clouds and......Wait, I think I'm mixing my superhero imagery here  Wink

Congratulations on picking up a 3112.  They are a very nice example of Flyer's lithography.  Yes

I assume this is the one you have.

Now all you need to do is find the matching cars and you will have The Oriental set from 1928.

You may already know that The Oriental was a bit different in 1927.

It was headed by the 3012, which had red lithographed windows.

As did its matching cars.

Of course then you will want The Bluebird.

Or the Broadway Limited

 Or the Jeffersonian

Perhaps I am too much of a salesman for my own good.  With you and AF53 now buying Narrow Gauge Flyer there is a lot of competition on eBay.  No wonder I am not winning any auctions any longer.  I've been trying to lure Sturgeon-Phish into the Flyer Narrow Gauge fold for years. Devil

I hope you enjoy the Flyer equipment as much as you do your Marx.  Thanks for posting the video, and thanks to everyone who has posted this week.

Northwoods

I am still Marx at heart and..yes, that's the one I bought. which is awaiting parts from Port Lines. The lithography is what sold me as you mentioned and the quality is rock solid, top grade materials, brass, steel, except for that . zinc pest. I found a couple of sources for wheel replacements, which is next. Ran great out of the box as they say, even with a tight gauge.. Simple mechanism."The Oriental "is my goal as you said, so don't worry about me on the Bay. I just missed a set because I wasn't actively looking. Of course. I envy your collection and those set color schemes are fantastic . .Your posts are one of the reasons I lurk here.
