Hello all, my 402E, which has a pendulum Unit inside does not work at all. I am able to switch the direction of the 402E manually by moving the lever by the one motor with the Pendulum unit on it. The loco is not changing directions automatically when I push the direction button on my 167 Controller. I am using a Z transformer and 167 controller to try to get it to work. No luck. Any ideas?? Should I try to get at the Pendulum unit and see whats wrong with it?? I just have to unscrew 2 screws at each end of the loco, then the shell comes off. Then, have to deal with the wiring for the headlights. How do I get at the motors? Do I have to undo the wiring and label them, then take the cotter pins out of the motor mounts. Then, the motors should drop off down from the frame, correct?? thanks.
I fixed it!! Turns out that the little metal plate, maybe a contact plate, kept on getting stuck in the top position, and did not drop down when the trottle was at 0 Volts. I put a little bit of cleaner on that metal plate, now it goes up and down with no problems. It reverses just fine and is able to change directions with the use of the 167 controller and throttling down on the Z transformer as well. Wiring was all original except for 2 wires on the non-Pendulum motor. Cleaned up the insides a little bit and dusted off the shell. Looks great now!! and runs even better!!
