Pre-war AF model # 420 shouldered screw question
Posted by vikes88 on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 4:30 PM

Does anyone know what the proper shouldered screw is for attaching the valve gear to the side of the locomotive?  I've been told it's a 4-36 or a 6-32...I have only one of the original shouldered screws & it appears to have (3) threads and the shouldered portion makes up about 60% of the screw length.

If anyone has any information on what the correct screw is for this AF model...I'd appreciate the information.  Thanks one and all for any assistance!

Welcjme to the forums.

I think you might get better results if you go to the Classic Toy Trains section of these forums.  The folks here are mostly in N and HO.  AF tends to be discussed more over there.

Good luck,

Richard

Hi Mike,

Let me repeat the welcome to the forum. Welcome

I also received your question through email.  Unfortunately I don't know what the proper screw is for the valve gear.  I checked in Trickel's catalog for parts and he does have the screws and the spacers available for sale, but he doesn't give any other information about what type of screw it is.

The only contact information that I have for him is what he lists in the catalog:

Eric Trickel

541 North Charlotte Street

Pottstown, PA  19464

Phone: 484-624-4354 (Evenings and Weekends)

E-mail   Trickelcastparts@yahoo.com

At least you have one of the original screws to help you in your search.  Good Luck

I really appreciate the information...I'll contact him by mail or phone and see what info he can offer.

Thanks, again!
