MTH Railking Conventional Option???
Posted by Cheese on Friday, April 22, 2011 9:25 AM

Hey All,

Does anyone think we'll ever see MTH release new Railking products with a Conventional option? As in, no sound or digital control and assorted high tech witchcraft?

I myself have an Railking 611 J, released a few years ago, and I LOVE it. The sound is nice, but I never use the command control, and sometimes I turn off the sound. While the engine was worth every penny I spent, it would have been nice to have a cheaper conventional option, which I would have purchased, and possibly upgraded to sound should I have had the desire to.

Does anyone here agree with me on this?

Cheese

They use to offer them without remote but claimed they didn't sell enough of them. I think it was a forced to buy thing myself.

I have bought them, gutted them, and installed electromechanical e-units and air whistle.

True. It just dissapoints me. I love the Railking products. I have severel pieces of rolling stock, but only one loco. Thats not because I can't afford them, I just don't feel the need for all the gadgetry.

The conventional MTH RK trains pre-dated the original ProtoSounds sound system. I bought several of the conventional steamers and a few diesels (including a premier line diesel). I sold quite a few off – which I now kick myself for.

Yes! But i'd like to see them offer some of their railking imperial steamers with a conventional option. I'm really considering buying a Southern Ps4, but idk. It's just dissapointing to me because MTH makes such high quality products, and a good variety to boot!

I have a Rail King PRR M1a. bought it used at a great price. I love it and run it all the time, Type V and 167 controller. Thinking about a RK J. I love the smoke and sounds of my M1, but I wouldn't want more than one engine running sounds, so yeah a cheaper conventional option would be nice.
