i want to restor a 45N gateman. is there anyway to mach the paint color to the original paint color from when it was new?
Look through the advertisements in a copy of Classic Toy Trains. Over time, I believe that I have seen several companies that advertise paints to match Lionel colors.
Good luck.

I used Charlie Woods' Accessory Green, and it isn't even close to what it should be. Color and finish was terrible. I have never been able to find an exact match off the shelf, but Duplicolor Engine Enamel in Grabber Green isn't bad. The best option would be to find someone who could scan a good sample of original Accessory Green and mix it.
As for the red used on the roof and door of the 45N, Krylon Banner Red is an exact match to the original red.
I got some green paint once from jeff at the train tender think I sent it to spanky or sturgeon for some A.F. item and they said it was aperfect match.
