I have for a while anyway decided that Williams cars are for me as I can get them right at 50% off what they suggest. there not scale and not detailed to max but for what I want there going to do me fine.
the price increases over the past 5 years or so have put me basically out of the ball field to buying new unless I come across a deal and a half from someone. Like the NYC legacey freight set I got about a year or so ago. but since then haven't seen the set sell for what I got it for and its actually a very good set. actually I'm going to have to bite the bullet at some point and get the legacy command set.

There are cars priced from $54.99... and only one that I could find at the $84.99 price... and there will be online sellers that you can pre-order these for 10-20% off.But as Wally said - to each his own.

Killing the goose that laid the golden egg? I have switched as well, rather than fight and have expanded my tinplate empire 10X over at 20% of the overpriced offerings that are "new". Each to their own.
Nothing is more fairly distributed than common sense: no one thinks he needs more of it than he already has.
I have looked at the offerings in the new Lionel catalog and was surprised at the price increase. I, for one, cannot justify this in my head and will not be buying anything from Lionel for a while. If MTH decides to do the same thing then I will just run what I have and the heck with it.
Paying 84 dollars for a car that is made in China is outrageous. I hope that everyone will write to Lionel and tell them that they are way over the price point.
Good luck trying to sell that stuff at that price point in this economy. I have a very good job, but I can not afford the new prices.
