Can anyone help me with the instructions for wiring up a K-line #42450 operating sawmill?

With the rear of the saw mill facing you, where the hook up clips are.

The directions name clips as follows

upper left = 3   upper right = 4

lower left = 1   lower right = 2

With the controller facing you, (4 screws on the left)

The four screws are numbered this way and the two on right go to transformer...

Just one more question.  When you face the rear of the saw mill are the clips that are closest to you at that point considered "upper" or "lower"?

You have been very helpful.  Thank you for your trouble.

Lower.

The directions also have a "Please note:" which states

"If your accessory does not work as described above, you may need to switch the wires at the hook up clips. Connect wires 1 and 2 from the button controller to Clips 3 and 4, and connect wires 3 and 4 from the controller to Clips 1 and 2."

hrin,

I also have questions on this sawmill seeing as I just got one that is missing the instructions. Is there anyway I could get a copy of your instructions?

Not only do I need to wire it but I also need to know how to make it smoke.

Any help would be great.

Tks,

 Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I had quite a time getting this accessory to operate.  It took two experienced train repair guys to get me straightened out.  First of all the accessory won't operate on AC voltage - only DC so you need to install a bridge rectifier between your transformer (assuming you are running your trains with AC power) and the small two button panel.  The inside terminals of the rectifier hook up to the hot and common from your transformer and the outside terminals to the button controller (DC+ to terminal "R" and DC- to terminal "B").  Then number the spring connectors on the little black device on the saw mill - looks a little like a track lock-on.  Facing the back of the saw mill with the little pile of fake sawdust to your right : upper left terminal is 4, upper right is 1, lower left is 2, lower right is 3.  Now number the four terminals on the left side of the two button panel as follows with the "Saw" button at the top - start at #4 at the top down to #1 at the bottom.  If you connect like numbered terminals from the button controller to the device on the saw mill you should be in good shape.  You may also find that you have to lubricate the spindle that turns the fake saw blade and maybe also replace the pulley belt.  Mine had too much slack in it and I had to use a shorter rubber band.

Good luck

If you send me your e-mail address I can send you a couple of pictures that helped me.

Bob,

Where did you get your bridge rectifier? Could I use a DC transformer if I had one?

Tks,

You can get bridge rectifiers at your local Radio Shack, if you don't order them online.

You can use a DC transformer.

After all of this I have found out that mine works correctly on AC wired the way that hrin posted in reply to Bob on the  forum. On the front of the box it states 12 volts AC power. So I tried it like this and everything works fine on AC???? Using My K-Line 950 transformer.

 Thanks to all!!

Kevin.
