It's your preference.  If the 14 volts makes everything work fine, and the variable track voltage is not needed, go ahead.

Posted by dengto on Sunday, March 27, 2011 9:23 AM

I  have a loop of lionel fastrack with a industrial sideing of track and i have two uncouple sections on that sideing.  I wondered if i should just use the track power to power them or could i wire them to the 14 volt acces. terminals on my z 1000 transformer? I am useing the z 1000 to power that loop of track.  I would like to be able to dump my side dump coal cars anytime....Thanks for any help.
