Lionel and Marx 027 Layout software

I would think this has been asked before but is there an easy to use software out there for Lionel and Marx 027 e.g. 027 radius as well as Lionel 42", 54" and Marx 34"?

I have tried to do search but not having much luck. This website runs alfull slow on my PC.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Kevin

A lot depends on what your goals for the software are. If you are searching for software to get an idea of what your layout will look like verus a perfect fit to your benchwork, then I'd suggest the Freeware from Atlas O.  They have a couple of versions. I use the 8.0 not the lateste. It has all/most of the curve sizes you seek and a straight, 10 inch straight is a straight. The switches are there also in varing radii, but NOT O-27.  I use it to build a picture of my layout  after it was built and it is relatively easy to use once you get the hang of it.  In the beginning, like all CAD-like packages, they require patience and practice.  Look at it anyway, and the price is right.  ELSE...RRtrack, cost for this one is 100 plus.

Hope this helps

PS...this website is slow on all PCs...just poorly designed with too many ads

Be aware that the Atlas freeware program's curves are measured center rail to center rail.(IE: O27= 13.5" c to c) Lionel O27 is measured from the outside of the ties-- not sure about Marx. There is another freeware program that's a bit harder to learn but doers have lionel O27-- go to www.anyrail.com   , and see if you like it-- only caveat for the free version is you are limited to 50 pieces of track per layout. You can do a bigger one, just do it in chunks--

willpick,

After spending two or three hours on the AnyRail software I like it. The trial version lets you build up to 50 pcs of track lik you said so I am just doing sections and saves with new names so I can pick up where I left off and delete the earlier stuff and then plug in the new stuff. I like the auto BOM it gives you as well.

Thanks again,

 Kevin
