I put a car turn-signal flashing unit in the wiring to one of my crossing lights. it takes a second or two to heat up and work but suits me. It should work great for your application. It's easy and inexpensive, too.

Radio Shack markets a "Blinlking Red LED" powered by two AA that I have used for End Of Train (FRED) lights and a flashing light on a Water Tank. The Battery lasts about 6 months (24 hrs a day).

I have a red 14 volt light mounted inside my Marx train tunnel. It is attached to the accessory terminal of the Marx transformer. Is there a way to make it blink? Radio shack did not have any answers. I couldn't find a blinking bulb but there must be something I can attach in-line to do the job. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks
