DOES ANYONE KNOW AN MTH CODE OTHER THAN 3 CLANKS/3 CLINKS TO RESET MTH PS-1 ENGINES TO THE FACTORY SETTINGS? I TRIED ALL THE CODES IN THE MANUAL...BUT NO RESULTS.
HELP!
The only one for re-setting to the default settings is the 3 & 3.
When you first power up are you getting the dreaded "3 Clanks of Death" ? Sometimes the result of a weak/bad battery or a derailment.
If you are you will need to pick-up the "Reset Kit" which consists of a new battery and a chip for resetting(unscrambling) the program in your loco. It's pretty simple, if I can do it anybody can.
If you don't have one do you know anybody who uses a Z-4000 transformer ? They are much easier to use for doing a reset than the smaller ones from MTH, it has a builtin "program" function.

WARNING!
The MTH news letter, "The Crossing Gate", in the 2010 Volume 3 issue stated that support of PS-1 engines will become "limited" and as of January 1, 2011 billable.
It had to happen, it has happened in other industries and it will happen to other train manufacturers. The micro-chips that make our trains come alive are bought from large, well known, electronics companies. The chips rapidly become OBSOLEATE and after 10 to 15 years of production are dropped from the product line. In this case, replacement chips for the PS-1 are no longer available.
MTH stated "Once the supply of Proto-Sound (PS-1) Chips runs out, there will be no supplier of chips to replenish our inventory".
They also state that it is "crucial" if you have not charged the battery, or have never run a PS-1 engine, or have not run it in the last 3 to 5 years, that you replace the battery BEFORE trying to operate the locomotive. MTH battery part no. BG-4000005 if ordering from them.
