Rotary Snowplow
Posted by Monsieur on Saturday, March 12, 2011 8:55 AM

Hello all,

I have a MTH Rotary Snowplow that I want to add smoke to. I have already modified a spare tender to work with it. (coupler on the front truck and converted from coal to oil) The smoke unit I plan on using is a Lionel 10-2722-50 Smoke Unit as used in the roadside diner.

Here is where I need help. I am fairly sure the smoke unit is a Seuthe unit sold as a Lionel part. Can I just wire the smoke unit in by taping the leads to the motor that spins the blade or will the track voltage be to high for the smoke unit. I am using Lionel Postwar transformers, (ZW, SW and 1033) on the layout?

I tested the smoke unit at my work bench which has a 71-2885 40 watt modern era transformer and it smoked excellently.

Thanks for any help.

Patrick
