I wouldn't count on Marx went Bankrupt in 1979. Now there was a company that remade some Marx trains using the Marx name I believe back a few years ago but it only did it like a year or two I believe and then stopped as they were not selling enough to keep it going. now the K-line molds are old Marx molds . now who actually have the molds is up in the air as work trickled down that RMT has some and Bachmann has some and Atlas has some all leased from Kal-San I believe. thats the name . sorry can't be more help.

It's not likely.  The Ameritrains Marx - also called New Marx got it start with James and Debbie Flynn.   They approached the owners of the Marx trademark and were able to negotiate a licensing agreement. A lot of the old tooling still existed in a warehouse in Buffalo, NY and was refurbished and put back into use.  The focus of Ameritrain Marx was an extension of the Marx line, not reproduction of prior items. Consequently, the world of lithographed tinplate got an infusion of new and different graphics all of which couple to and can be run with original Marx trains.

New Marx was in business for a lot longer than just a couple of years.  It is my understanding there were issues with respect to license renewal which did not get resolved and Ameritrains closed its doors in 2004.  The owners of the trademark made some noise about resuming production but that came to naught and all that remains is silence and thoughts about what might have been.

If you are interested in New Marx you should join the Yahoo MarxAmeritrans group.  It's small but they do have interesting posts and they have a good photo archive.  As for locating New Marx just head over to e-bay and keep an eye on the Marx listings.  New Marx shows up all the time.

Actually, the Flynns sold trains under the Marx name. When they sold the business, I'm pretty sure that the new owner changed it to AmeriTrains.

There was another company that sold graphic wrapping kits to add new graphics to existing tinplate cars, giving new life to old paintworn cars and engines. The name escapes me, maybe its the same as discussed but think it was different.

   Have fun with your trains
