z4000 from Justrains
Posted by coalcracker on Sunday, February 20, 2011 1:53 PM

I visited Justrains in Delaware yesterday.  I wasn't sure what to expect since I had read that an owner had passed and also since they were not answering the phone Saturday.  I figured I'd take a chance and make the 1.5 hour trip from PA.  I was pleased to see the store was open, but having not been there for a couple of years I noticed their store inventory was way down.  I heard the guys working there say they were trying to reduce inventory and wanted to move out of the Newark Shopping Center to a different location.  I suppose the store is becoming more website based.  Anyway, I found what I went for, an MTH Z4000 at a nice price of $385.  I have been wanting one of these beasts for years.   I also left with a Williams by Bachman 3 car Amfleet set.   Upon returning home my son and I hooked the Z4000 up to a Z4000 remote commander (40-4001), one of 3 I bought several years ago.  What a sweet system this is for those of us who aren't ready for or don't want DCS.  The remote works well and has great range, even from other rooms.  It's a shame MTH doesn't make these anymore although I think they have some other non-DCS remote out now.  One step closer to a permanent layout.
